Most of our Opens and major club competitions are played on The Weatheroak, each tee providing a true test commensurate with handicap.
Highlights
Look out for the par 4 2nd which requires two shots over water from the back tees, the long par 3 3rd where anything but straight usually means trouble, the par 4 SI 1 6th where taking on the large Oak over the 90 degree dogleg means dicing with both OoB and the brook across the fairway, and the idyllic par 3 7th over a large expanse of water before hitting the almost island green.
On the back 9 it is tempting to drive the green on the shortish par 4 12th, the rollercoaster par 5 13th has a reachable brook from the tee for the longest hitters before a narrow entrance to the green catches many out, the second shot on the par 4 15th offers possibly the best view on the course at certain times of the year, the stunning par 4 16th offers a choice of two fairways with a parallel brook and fountain running pretty much from tee to green and the par 3 17th has a brook, a pond, trees, bunkers and OoB to take into account.

In addition to the 27 holes across The Weatheroak, The Wythall and The Brockhill, Kings Norton Golf Club also offers a nine hole par 3 Academy Course. It is a different challenge with small greens and tight approaches from tee to green, all aimed at improving accuracy and distance with the shorter irons. Membership is available for the Academy Course in isolation and at a significantly reduced cost. Indeed some of those new to golf use it as a step to the longer holes. Full members will often use the facility for a practice round or a warm up before playing one of the main courses.
